Scotty has a rare pedigree: he is one of the few still living great-grandsons of Leo, one of the most influential Quarter Horse sire ever! Leo is claimed to have won 20 out of 22 match races and when he was retired to stud duties he sired outstanding colts and made himself a name as broodmare sire. Leo was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame.
Scotty’s maternal grandsire is Three Leo, a NCHA money earner with a Racing ROM and an SI-85 that is by Leo and out of a mare by Three Bars, a leading sire of racing Quarter Horses that was inducted into the AQHA Hall of Fame.
Scotty’s top side goes back to King, Poco Bueno, Joe Reed, Pretty Buck, Blackburn, Three Bars and Rey Del Rancho, an outstanding cutting and halter horse and the sire of Rey Jay. Scotty’s top side is 99% Foundation! On the bottom he is out of a Racing ROM producing mare by Three Leo by Leo.
The rare Champagne gene he inherited from his Sire, Butterscotch Bay and it can be tracked back to a mare called Yellow Race Mare (1930). To our knowledge he is the only Champagne great-grandson of Leo!
Scotty combines old Foundation bloodlines with Speed. 93% NFQHA - he is 14% Leo bred.
